Ostomy

The creation of an ostomy because of colon cancer or serious injury does not mean the end of life or social isolation. Valley View Regional Hospital's Ostomy department can help you return to a normal lifestyle and maintain that lifestyle through education and support.

The Ostomy department offers highly specialized treatment to patients with fecal and urinary diversions, wounds, drains, pressure sores and incontinence. Care is provided by two seasoned nurses (one in Valley View's Home Health Care department) that are certified in wound, ostomy and continence nursing. To date, there are only approximately 15 certified such nurses in the state.

For more information about this service, please e-mail valleyview@vvrh.com or phone Stephanie Mowdy, RN, CWOCN, CDE at 580/421-1143.

The Ada Ostomy Association, sponsored by VVRH, is a member of the United Ostomy Association. For your convenience, their website is www.uoa.org.
