Sleep Center

Sleep Center

The newly renovated Sleep Center is located on the ground floor of Valley View Regional Hospital. It is equipped with two new spacious bedrooms fully furnished for your comfort.

For an estimated 50 million Americans who suffer from sleep disorders, trying to get a good night's sleep can be a  nightmare. Now, help can be found locally through Valley View's  Sleep Center. Clinical overnight studies are performed right here in the hospital.

Think you might have a sleep problem? Take a moment to complete the following lists of questions for Sleep Apnea and Insomnia, two of the most common forms of sleep disorders. (NOTE: The questionnaires are  intended as a general source of information and do not constitute medical advice, nor should they be used for a diagnosis or treatment.)

If, after answering the list of questions, you are concerned that you may be experiencing signs of these sleep disorders, contact your physician and tell him/her you are interested in participating in a sleep study at Valley View Regional Hospital

Sleep Apnea

  • I've been told that I snore.
  • I've been told that I stop breathing when I sleep.
  • I feel sleepy during the day.
  • I have high blood pressure.
  • I've been told that I'm a restless sleeper.
  • I sweat excessively during the night.
  • I frequently awaken with headaches.
  • I suddenly wake up gasping for breath.
  • I have noticed my heart pounding irregularly.
  • I have difficulty breathing through my nose.
  • I am overweight and/or am gaining weight.
  • I seem to be losing my sex drive.

If you answered "Yes" to three (3) or more statements, you show symptoms of Sleep Apnea, a life threatening disorder which causes you to stop breathing (sometimes, in many cases, up to several hundred times a night).

Insomnia

  • I have difficulty falling asleep.

  • Thoughts race through my mind and this prevents me from sleeping.

  • I wake up during the night and can't go back to sleep.

  • I wake up earlier in the morning than I would like to.

  • I'll lie awake for half an hour or more before I fall asleep.

  • I anticipate a problem with sleep almost every night.

If you said "Yes" to one (1) or more statements, you show symptoms of Insomnia, a persistent inability to fall asleep or stay asleep.
